Parochial Church Councils support local clergy in the running and management of their benefice or parish.

Their primary function is stated as 'promoting in the parish the whole mission of the Church'. You can find out more about the key roles within the PCC here.

Further to the revised Church Representation Rules 2020, PCCs have until 31 May to hold their APCMs. Please see Annual Parochial Church Meetings for detailed information.

We will provide any updates through our communications mailings. The annual meeting receives reports on changes to the electoral roll, general parish activities and financial matters.

The annual meeting also elects new members to the PCC and to deanery synod every three years. 2023 is an election year for the Deanery Synod with new members of the Deanery Synod taking up office from 1 July following this meeting, for three years.

The legal aspects of convening and running annual meetings are covered in Part 9, section A of the Church Representation Rules 2020, the 2022 release (with minor changes from the 2020 version) is not available online but can be purchased from Church House Publishing or other online book stores.

You can find out more about governance on the Parish Resources website. Their Frequently Asked Questions section is particularly helpful.
