The Oxford Diocesan Synod overwhelmingly approved the next stage of the legislation for women bishops on Saturday 22 March. After a debate, the synod was asked to vote: "that this Synod approve the proposals embodied in the draft Bishops and Priests (Consecration and Ordination of Women) Measure and draft Amending Canon No 33."Those who voted for the motion were 3 Bishops, 47 Clergy and 57 Laity. Those who voted against were 3 Clergy and 1 member of the Laity.
There were three abstentions in the House of Laity. The legislation returns to the General Synod later this year.
