Clergy, youth leaders and school staff gather for event looking at how BeSpace helps churches and schools create opportunities for encountering God through prayer spaces, retreats and pilgrimages.
Clergy, youth leaders and school staff gathered at St Katharine’s Retreat House near High Wycombe for an event looking at how stillness can support the spiritual growth of children and young people.
The day introduced participants to some of the ways that BeSpace helps churches and schools create opportunities for encountering God through prayer spaces, retreats and pilgrimages.
BeSpace is an Oxfordshire-based charity that encourages and equips Christians to provide space where children grow spiritually through contemplative Christian practices.
Attendees took part in Diocese of Oxford Space Makers activities, made their own glitter stillness jars and walked a reflective pilgrimage around the grounds of St Katharine’s.
The Revd James Dwyer, who organised the event, said: “The day offered a good mix of learning about the contemplative practices BeSpace help churches and schools cultivate, while also giving participants time to experience them for themselves.
“I know I have come back to my parish with lots of ideas about how I might share these simple yet powerful practices with our schools, and I’m sure others will be reflecting on that themselves.”
