Please invite your ministry teams to join the congregation for this service, so that ordained and lay ministers may renew their commitments together.

Parking will be available in Broad Walk.

Please note that robing ordained and licensed lay ministers need to individually register on Eventbrite, whilst other members of your ministry team and congregation are welcome to simply turn up for the service.

Coffee and pastries will be served after the service in St Aldates Church over the road. We do hope you will stay to enjoy this fellowship and perhaps bring a packed lunch or go out to lunch with friends.

The consecrated oils will be decanted to small bottles and available immediately after the service. The oils are kept at the Cathedral during the year and supplies are available on request.

We look forward to seeing you at Christ Church on Maundy Thursday.

FAQs

I am clergy or an LLM and wish to robe, what should I do?
If you have registered for robing and procession, please bring your cassock, surplice and white stole or preaching scarf (we do not wear hoods or albs/cassock-albs for this service).

LLMs robe in the Music Room (immediately to right of Tom Gate as you come in). Deacons and priests robe in Lecture Rooms 1 or 2 (Tom Quad Staircase 8 by Cathedral porch). These rooms will be available from 10am and your belongings can be left there safely during the service. If you are robing in these rooms, please be there by 10.30 and ready by 10.45; you will be briefed in the room and taken to the Cloister to line up soon after 10.45am.

There are a few steps up to the Music Room and to Lecture Rooms 1 and 2, and several steps down to the Cloister. Step-free robing is available in the Cathedral (from 10.30am only); those who robe in the Cathedral will join the procession from the antechapel at the back of the cathedral.

How do we receive the oil?

After the service, consecrated oils will be available for collection. These are provided in individual pre-filled plastic bottles from which you can refill personal or parish oil stocks at home – please ask for as many bottles of each oil as you need. Further supplies of all three consecrated oils are kept at the Cathedral throughout the year and are available to parish clergy at any time on request - if you need new oils during the year, please contact joseph.denby@chch.ox.ac.uk.

Where can I park?
Parking is available on the Broadwalk by the Meadows from 9am (noting that there’s a 20mph speed limit on the route in!).

Go left immediately after Folly Bridge, then second right (before the Westgate) and right again to take you onto Speedwell Street. Left onto St Aldates, and it's a brown gate marked Private before you get to Tom Tower.

The Zero Emission Zone doesn't include Christ Church.

Blue badge parking is available on St Aldates and Pembroke Square and is the best parking option for visitors with access requirements.

Who can I bring?

I'm a Licensed Lay Minister, is this service for me?
Absolutely, LLMs are warmly welcomed, but there is no pressure or requirement for you to be at the Maundy Thursday service. There will also be a chance in the autumn service for LLMs to renew their ministerial commitment.
Are there refreshments?
Coffee and pastries will be served after the service in St Aldates Church over the road. We hope you will stay to enjoy this fellowship and perhaps bring a packed lunch or go out to lunch with friends.
