Chair of the Oxford Diocesan Advisory Committee for the Care of Churches (DAC)

The Oxford Diocesan Advisory Committee for the Care of Churches (DAC) is seeking a new Chair from January 2026.

The Diocese of Oxford contains a varied estate of 808 church buildings, many of which are Grades I and II* Listed and of national historic and architectural significance, across both rural and urban congregations. The DAC is responsible for considering all applications for repairs, re-orderings or new works within churches of the diocese and is committed to enabling mission and outreach, whilst preserving the historic significance of these sacred places. The DAC is made up of 25 members and a further 21 advisors, with specialist expertise in all areas relating to the care of church buildings.

The Church Buildings Team, which supports the DAC and the Chair, are a highly skilled team of building conservation specialists with extensive and broad experience of the heritage and ecclesiastical sectors. This means that a considerable amount of work is delegated to the staff team, and the Archdeacons, lightening the case load of the Committee itself.

It will be expected that the new chairperson will work very much in sympathy with the Church of England and the current strategy of the diocese expressed through its common vision.
