About the role:

We are seeking to appoint a competent and theologically able Anglican, to act as Lead Chaplain for Thames Valley Police (TVP), supporting the force in the delivery of its wellbeing strategy. In this role, you will provide personal, practical, and spiritual care to police officers, staff, and their families of all faiths and none. The successful candidate will be employed by the Oxford Diocesan Board of Finance, working full-time for Thames Valley Police. There is a requirement to have a Licence to Officiate from the Bishop of Oxford.

Revd Helen Arnold, former Lead Chaplain at TVP: “It has been my dream job to have a full-time ministry in TVP! I was drawn to apply for this role 6 years ago, as I knew the excellent reputation of TVP, and that Police Chaplaincy is well established and valued by officers and staff in Thames Valley. We all benefit from the fantastic policing that we so often take for granted, keeping our families, our streets, and our homes safe. Over the past 6 years, I have particularly enjoyed building relationships not just with those individuals to whom we offer pastoral support and signposting, but also with staff support networks within TVP and the local communities. Furthermore, TVP's Chaplaincy team includes representatives of different faiths, reflecting those we work with and the communities they serve. It has been a great privilege to get to know and be welcomed by different faith communities across Thames Valley, and I am proud to have belonged to this police family for a time."

As Lead Chaplain, you will manage a Chaplaincy service in TVP with a team of volunteer chaplains. They are a group of experienced, trained volunteers who offer their time and passion because they appreciate the job that police officers, staff, and their families do for our communities.
