St Mary’s Church has recently received a major refurbishment with new lighting, heating, and a new floor and toilets, in order to ‘make St Mary’s a more welcoming place of worship and to meet the needs of the wider community.’ Besides regular worship, the building is used by a number of local organisations, including Guides, Brownies, and the Maple Tree Children’s Centre, together with concerts, plays, and exhibitions. We are looking for a person with:
• Good organisation and communication skills
• Good IT skills and attention to detail
• A warm and outgoing personality and sympathy towards a Christian organization.
Duties:
- Working closely with the Vicar on the weekly needs of the Parish
- Preparation for and attendance at PCC and Finance and General Purposes meetings, annual reports for the Annual Parochial Meeting and for the Charities Commission and the Diocese. Minuting and archiving. Filing and registering the Electoral Roll
- Arranging baptisms, weddings, funerals and providing Quarterly Returns to the Diocese
- Compiling and printing publicity for the Parish
- Maintaining the database of contacts both within the Church and the village and ensuring compliance with GDPR policy. (Data Controller)
- Overseeing the online Church Calendar.
- Arranging and negotiating hire of the building both for external and internal use.
Working Hours are expected to be flexible and to take up to ten hours a week, including at least one full morning in the Vicarage office.
Remuneration. Payment will be made on an hourly basis and at a rate to be agreed between the Secretary/Administrator and the PCC.
