We are a Bible-based and Christ-centred intercultural worshipping community within the Church of England and Global Anglican Communion.
Over the last 4 years, we have transformed our church from a multicultural congregation into an intercultural one. We are viewed as an intercultural learning community hub by the Oxford Diocese and beyond.
We are also focused on our healthy Children, Youth and Family ministry and have received substantial external funding to continue growing this area.
We are seeking a Vicar who will continue to lead us in these focus areas but also to follow Christ’s commission to make disciples of all nations and peoples.
We are seeking a vicar with:
- Strong intercultural leadership skills
- Exceptional communication & interpersonal gifts to inspire others through their faith in Jesus Christ
- Strategic skills to build and develop our vision to become an Intercultural Resourcing Church for Slough.
- A strong and experienced team to assist you to grow our focus areas.
- A warm and welcoming intercultural church community with an abundance of giftings and talents.
- A church community who are confident to take the good news of Christ outside the boundaries of our church wall’s and into the wider secular community.
- Well-established links within the wider community such as schools and other churches.
We look forward to exploring our calling further under the leadership of our new Vicar and to working together to realise our aspirations.
We are praying for a new Vicar who:
- Has passion, creativity and drive in continuing to grow our focus areas as well as lead us in our evangelical and outreach centred church lives.
- Can demonstrate strong skills in working with people of different cultures, ages and backgrounds.
- Is a good communicator combining strong inter-personal, governance and leadership skills.
- Is discerning of other people’s giftings and talents and engaging them within their best suited areas of our church life.
- Is committed to growing the spiritual needs of our congregation as well as deepening our spiritual depth.
St. Paul’s has a strong Evangelical tradition in where outreach always has been, and is likely to continue to be, very important, both in support of overseas mission and in the local area particularly to the intercultural community represented in our Parish.
We are a welcoming church, and visitors often embark on the positive welcome they receive. There is great pastoral concern for church members and a recent trend of close counselling and mentoring when that is needed.
We have recently appointed a children, youth and family worker to grow amongst the younger age groups. There are provisions for teenagers and young people and this work has been identified as needing special attention on because of the pressures and distractions that might draw this age group away from Christ.
For further information about the parish, our vision and our plans and aspirations, please read our Parish Profile. A full application pack, with the profile, can be downloaded from the CPAS website.
