About Us
The Oxford Diocesan Board of Finance (ODBF) is seeking four passionate and dedicated volunteer Advocates to join our efforts in combating modern slavery within our diocese. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference by raising awareness among churches within your archdeaconry of the signs of modern slavery and advocating for victims and survivors of trafficking and exploitation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Keep abreast of news and policy relating to modern slavery
• Raise awareness of modern slavery in local churches within your archdeaconry through talks, signposting to resources and training, and running Clewer Initiative courses
• Focus awareness efforts around Anti-Slavery Day, helping to arrange an annual awareness event
• Collaborate with local partners and organisations working on similar issues.
What We’re Looking For:
• A strong interest in issues of modern slavery, and a belief in the church’s role in responding to this
• Comfortable presenting to groups of people and running training sessions, adapting Clewer Initiative material
• Willingness to travel within the assigned archdeaconry.
Desirable:
• Experience of The Clewer Initiative resources
• Experience working with victims and/or survivors of modern slavery
What We Offer:
• Support to build knowledge around modern slavery and deliver training and talks.
• The opportunity to be part of a compassionate, purpose-driven team.
• Flexible hours and a supportive environment to work around personal commitments.
If you are looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity to help make a difference, we would love to hear from you!
We offer the opportunity for anyone interested to have an informal conversation with the diocesan Social Justice Adviser, Hannah Ling (07584 206 531), to explore the role.
