Gavin Collins was announced as Bishop of Dorchester on 24 November 2020. He was previously the archdeacon of the Meon in the Diocese of Portsmouth. He was ordained in 1997 and undertook his curacy at St Barnabas, Cambridge, before moving to be Vicar of Christ Church, Chorleywood, in St. Albans Diocese, where he served from 2002–2011.

Gavin was previously one of the convenors of the Evangelical Forum on Synod and has served as a trustee of Latin Link mission agency and of the London School of Theology. He is deeply committed to the mission and growth of the Church.

Gavin is married to Christina, who is a health visitor, and they have three adult children. He is a keen cyclist and runner, and has cycled from Lands’ End to John O’Groats with his son.

Bishop Gavin was consecrated as the Bishop of Dorchester at a special service at Lambeth Palace in April 2021. Bishop Gavin took on additional responsibility as Warden of LLMs in September 2022.
