Come and See

A dark blue line drawing shows Jesus outstretching his arm. Text reads Come and See, the words getting more and more in focus.

Come and See is our big, warm open invitation to an adventure in faith and trust.

It’s for everyone in the local church and the whole community. It's free of charge, and all are welcome.

What is Come and See?

Each Lent, we delve into a new aspect of Christian faith, from the Creed to the Commandments, and everything in between. It's perfect for new and old Christians alike, and can be done on your own, as a family, as a church, school or in a small group.

What does it involve?

Everyone who registers receives a short daily email to reflect on, and a weekly video from Bishop Steven exploring the themes in a bit more detail. There are special materials for family groups and schools, with a weekly email featuring a video message on the same theme, filmed by one of our school chaplains.

Church organisers get everything in advance, alongside a special leader's guide.

I'm in, how do I sign up?

Stay tuned for news on the theme for 2025 and how you can sign up. You can check out past years at any point on the Oxford Diocesan Learning Hub, and journey through the video reflections online in your own time. 2024 and 2023 are ready to go, and we're working hard to get 2022 and 2021 up too.

Church leader? You can sign up now!

Join us on Zoom at 7pm on Wednesday 11 September to discuss Come and See 2025 - a Lent programme for all in our diocese, this time looking at baptism.

We'll run through what you can expect in 2025, rough timelines, and why you should run Come and See in your parish or school. There's no obligation to run Come and See at this stage; this is a chance to get to know what we're offering and ask any questions you may have.

What do people think?

We've just completed our fourth year of Come and See. Over the years we've learned that once people sign up for Come and See during Lent, they stay.

"The videos with text were brilliant. I loved the gentle rhythm of the daily reflections."

How can my church work with Come and See?

There are many different ways that you and your church can work with Come and See. You can encourage each other to register for the daily emails, you can use the weekly films as part of a talks series, or you can use the dedicated materials for course organisers to offer Come and See to Sunday and small groups. And don't forget we'll have bespoke resources for children and young people too.

The Christian life is something that we do together. What might you and your church offer?

"The leader's notes and suggestions for conversation worked well, especially helpful as I was new to leading a small group.‚Äč"
