The Archbishop of the West Indies visited the Diocese of Oxford as part of celebrations to mark the 75 year anniversary of the arrival of the Empire Windrush to the UK.
During his visit to the diocese, from 18-22 June, the Archbishop of the West Indies, Howard Gregory, met with clergy and lay people in the diocese, preached at special thanksgiving services at Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford and St George's, Tilehurst. He also spent time with people of the Windrush Generation in Reading and the Diocese of Oxford UK Minority Ethnic Clergy Chapter.
As part of the visit, Archbishop Howard led a national service at Southwark Cathedral on Windrush Day, Thursday 22 June, marking the anniversary and celebrating the significance of the Windrush Generation in their contribution to Britain. Watch the Livestream.
Archbishop Howard also joined Sunday faith shows on local BBC Radio Berkshire and Radio Oxford at the weekend. BBC Radio Berkshire aired a special feature from the celebrations at St George's Church and interviews with the Windrush Generation.
