The Archbishop of Canterbury signs Rome’s Call for AI Ethics, the final stage of the Oxford Diocesan pledge to endorse fair work.
Saturday 9 March saw over 70 members of the Oxford Diocesan Synod join together for their first meeting of 2024.
The Church of England’s General Synod has publicly affirmed the place of work as a key component in 'human flourishing' in an era when Artificial Intelligence is driving a “new fast moving industrial revolution”.

The Diocese of Oxford will extend its commitment to mutual support following the success of its 2020 initiative. The diocese will allocate a further £1.5m to support the five Church of England dioceses in most financial need.
The June meeting of Oxford Diocesan Synod took time to discuss how we can best support children, families and schools. Members also considered a revised environmental motion for General Synod and the draft 2024 budget.
Dominic Grieve KC has completed his independent review of the governance of Christ Church, Oxford, and a report setting out recommendations to the Governing Body. We look forward to engaging with its conclusions in the coming months.
Though valuable for a season and for those involved, the end of the 2022/23 academic year is the appropriate time for the project to be brought to an end.
