THE Diocese of Oxford's new Director of Mission is Andrew Anderson-Gear, who is currently the Parish Development Adviser for the Buckingham Area.
Rosemary Pearce, Diocesan Secretary, said: "Andrew brings significant skills to this role which will enable him to lead the work of the Department of Mission team at a key period of mission and ministry development.
He knows the Diocese well, having worked with parishes and deaneries in a number of capacities and is greatly appreciated for his thoughtful professionalism.
We will be determining over the coming days when he will take up his new role. "Andrew has worked for the Church for the past 25 years.
He has been the diocesan youth adviser in both the Diocese of Ely and the Diocese of Oxford.
Since 2003 he has held a more development role as a PDA, which includes being part of the Continuing Ministerial Development team.
He and his wife, Lindsey, worship at St Edburg's Church in Bicester where he leads the All Age service team.
"I am thrilled at being appointed as the new Director of Mission and look forward to getting to know those areas of the Diocese I don't know as well," said Andrew.
"As a lay person, I believe passionately in collaborative ministry and shared leadership and I am so excited at the energy around mission that has grown in this Diocese.
I understand the joys and struggles we face in our churches and through the work of the Department of Mission and I look forward to serving the churches of this Diocese in this new role and to seeing where God is leading us. "
