Bishop blessing for restored medieval window

Bishop Gavin looks at the medieval window at All Saints North MoretonA medieval window, which is one of the finest in the country, has been restored and blessed at All Saints Church North Moreton.

The 14th century window, known as the Saint Nicholas Window can be found in the chantry chapel and depicts various events from Jesus’ life as well as Mary and St Nicholas.

The vicar, the Revd Jason St John Nicolle, said: “The theory was that light is something that is profoundly spiritual and light helps us to connect with God. And different types of stained glass affecting the light coming creates a special space that isn’t just beautiful but is a space that connects us with the reality of God, that brings us into the presence of heaven.

“It is an amazing thought that a work of art that was designed to do this back in 1300 is still doing it today.”

The recently restored window, which was commissioned by the Lord of the Manor Miles de Stapleton, was blessed at a special evensong service by Bishop Gavin.
