The Rt Revd Colin Bennetts has died after a long battle with cancer. Bishop Colin was Bishop of Coventry before he retired in 2008.
Before that he was Area Bishop of Buckingham (1994-1998).
He was also Vicar of St Andrew's Oxford (1980-1990) and previously Chaplain of Jesus College, Oxford. Bishop Alan, the present Bishop of Buckingham, said: "I am very sad to hear of Bishop Colin's death.
I often meet people around Bucks whose lives were touched for good by his faith, integrity, gentle wisdom and sense of fun."Many of the most effective aspects of the way we work in the archdeaconry go back to Colin's leadership.
I was personally grateful for his advice, about everything from confirmations policy to the morals around the Iraq war.
I am really sorry the whole Church should be deprived of his wisdom in retirement."The love and prayers of many in Bucks will be with Colin and his family.
May he rest in peace, and rise in glory!"For more information and obituary, please see the Coventry Diocese website.
