The Acting Bishop of Oxford, the Rt Revd Colin Fletcher, said: "I'd like to extend my congratulations and best wishes to the Rt Hon.
Theresa May as she becomes Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. "Mrs May grew up in the Diocese of Oxford where her father, the Revd Hubert Brasier, was first vicar of Enstone with Heythrop and later of Wheatley, where she and her husband were married.
As MP for Maidenhead she is also, of course, one of our own constituency MPs. "I can assure Mrs May of my continued prayers as she takes up office at such a critical time for our country. "
