The Bishop of Oxford, the Rt Revd John Pritchard, said:"I was delighted to hear of the safe arrival of the new prince and extend my congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge."The birth of a baby is a matter for great celebration, and in common with others throughout the country, I rejoice for them and offer my prayers for their future as a family."The Revd Jules Gadsby, whose parish includes Bucklebury, where the Middletons live, has also issued a statement."On behalf of the parishes of Bradfield, Bucklebury and Stanford Dingley, I would like to congratulate the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the safe arrival of their son.
We give thanks that both mother and baby are doing well."The birth of a child is an exciting time full of new experiences and joys.
I am delighted for the family, and will be praying for them in those exhausting and exhilarating first days.
Our churches will be praying that God would bless the Duke and Duchess, and their new son, as they begin this new chapter of their family life together.
