A local school has embarked on a mission to 'follow the star' from Bucks to Bethlehem.
Between half term and Christmas, Hawridge and Cholesbury Church of England Primary School aims to cover 4,973km and raise £28,000 in the process .
Dedicated pupils and their families are tracking every kilometre they walk or swim before Christmas.
They hope to raise enough money to build a shepherd's hut on the school grounds.
"Without our usual nativity and carol services this year - and teachers and students stuck in their bubbles at school - this is a way of bringing everyone together for Christmas," said head teacher Rosie Phillips.A rural school
"Our usual fundraising opportunities have been curtailed this year because of the Covid crisis, so this initiative will give a lasting legacy that our children, and future generations, can use and enjoy for years to come. "A committed rural school, Hawridge and Cholesbury deliver 35 per cent of lessons outside of the classroom.
The addition of the new outdoor building would therefore allow them to expand their rural offerings.
The ability to work outside is also invaluable during the Covid pandemic, boosting safe teaching space.
As a result of their hard work so far, they have even decided to do some sight-seeing.
They recently passed Armenia and are using the walk as the perfect opportunity to learn more about different cultures. You can track the school's progress as they follow the star and aim for Bethlehem.
All support is greatly appreciated.
