Churchmead Church of England School welcomed dignitaries and school governors this week as it celebrated the opening of its newly refurbished Maths and Business Centre. The mayor and mayoress of the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead, Cllr Paul Lion and his wife Laura, joined the celebration on Wednesday, February 27. In conjunction with RBWM and the Oxford Diocese, Churchmead secured a Government funded 'capital in schools' grant for £270,000 which enabled the school to completely gut one of its older style buildings, re-design it and fit new state of the art classrooms and technology. After many months of hard work to get the building ready for the students, the mayor cut the ribbon and declared the centre officially open for business. Guests were taken on a guided tour by the Student Leadership team, watched lessons in progress and sampled the amazing new technology installed within each classroom. The event was rounded off with tea, cake and an opportunity to celebrate with the mayor and mayoress.
