The Revd Dr Grant Bayliss is the Diocese of Oxford's new Head of IME 2, our curates' training programme.
The Revd Dr Grant Bayliss.
Steven Buckley Grant is currently the Diocesan Canon Precentor, spending half of his time working at Oxford's Christ Church Cathedral, and the other half facilitating our curates' hard skills training programme. He takes over from the Revd Dr Beren Hartless as the Head of IME 2, managing our ongoing curates' training.
The role involves arranging training courses on mission and evangelism, media, churchyards, church buildings and much more.
It also involves ongoing pastoral support for curates as well as ongoing assessments throughout their training, which usually lasts three years. Grant, who is due to start in November, says: "Working with those answering God's call to ordained ministry has been one of the great privileges of my life.
I have always felt I have learnt as much as I've taught and been humbled and inspired time and time again.
Here in Oxford, we are rightly proud of our training programmes and I relish the chance to build on that strong base and respond to the emerging new challenges as Head of IME 2. "Beren says: "I have loved it.
It's a fabulous job that's never boring.
There's always something new and different.
I'll miss the curates and all the inspiring colleagues I work with. "Andrew Anderson-Gear, Director of Mission, says: "Grant has facilitated our hard skills training programme brilliantly over the last three years.
He is already ahuge support to the talented team who co-ordinate the curates training for the Diocese.
He is a great teacher, caring pastor, and has all the forward-thinking, strategic gifts and experience needed to fill the role. "
