Bishop Gavin raised more than £1,700 for two good causes with his abseil at Dorchester Abbey on Saturday.
The fundraiser, part of the biannual Dorchester Festival, supported Dorchester Abbey itself, as well as Restore, an Oxfordshire-based mental health charity.
Bishop Gavin said: "All went well, though it was more than a little scary at the top! It was a great day. My thanks to the team at Dorchester Abbey for organising it and for the Revd Jane Willis for talking me into it."
Among those who joined Bishop Gavin, was 92-year-old Hugh Norris who had to have a practise at climbing the 100 steps to the bell tower.
There's still time to sponsor Bishop Gavin via his JustGiving page and see for yourself the photographic evidence that he completed the feat successfully.
