K&K Summit 2025: Being Human

1-5 September 2025

Join us for an inspiring online gathering rooted in prayer, action, and shared learning between the dioceses of Kimberley & Kuruman and Oxford.

This year’s K&K Summit explores what it means to be human – in the world, in the church, and in the communities we are called to serve. With morning Bible studies, livestreamed addresses, collaborative reflections, and opportunities to take meaningful action wherever you are, the summit invites us to journey together across cultures and contexts.

You can watch livestreams across the week on the K&K Facebook group, or live from Dorchester Abbey. You can also register to receive exclusive links for interactive hybrid events.

Day 4

Today focuses on safe church and tackling gender-based violence.

This afternoon there's a chance to discuss gender justice in the Church with Bishop Mary, Revd Martha, Canon Sharon, Revd Polly,  Professor Helen King and delegates, and there's online Evening worship and Compline.

You can join in the events by registering online.

Day 3

Watch Bishop Mary's video diary entries.

Wednesday started with presentations from Archbishop Thabo and Bishop Steven, each reflecting on what it means to be human in today's complex and fast-changing world.

Later in the morning, the Venerable Tshenolo Hove from the Diocese of Kimberley and Kuruman and Alison Riggs from the Diocese of Oxford shared information about what each diocese is doing to address the climate and environmental crises. Drawing on the five Marks of Mission and our call to be 'slaves of hope', they presented the dioceses' initiatives to support parishes and individual Christians to care for God's creation.

After lunch, it was time to hear from Sara Nodmar, environmental lead for the Diocese of Vaxjo in Sweden (with which the Diocese of Oxford is linked) and from Oxford and K&K parishes about their environmental programmes and projects. There was much to inspire, including tree-planting, community gardens, Season of Creation services and calendars, recycling initiatives. There was also a challenge: how can we do more?

Revd Teresa then led us in a workshop to turn what is often tossed out as waste into something beautiful and useful. Two-litre plastic bottles became lovely baskets - able to be used for storage, planting... One person even suggested using them as collection plates in church!

Our final plenary session involved young people from around Kimberley and Kuruman asking bishops questions about key issues facing them and the church.

And as always, throughout the day, there was prayer and praise. We've greatly enjoyed learning each other's favourite songs, hymns, and dances. Allelu, Allelu, Allelu, Alleluiah! Praise ye the Lord!

Bishop Mary welcomes people to the Kimberley and Kuruman summitDay 2

This morning started with a Bible study from Bishop Brian, followed by livestreamed morning worship across the dioceses of Kimberley & Kuruman and Oxford.

Bishop Mary welcomed those onsite and online to the first day of the summit.

The packed agenda for the afternoon includes a bible study with Bishop Mary, and a chance to reflect on recent events in both dioceses, as well as many opportunities to join with our brothers and sisters in Christ across the globe in prayer and worship. Today's theme is the Beatitudes. Excitingly, today at 3.30pm, there's the opportunity to hear from young people who participated in the inter-diocesan youth exchange.

Day 1

Bishop Mary shares the action from day 1, where she visited Father Tefo and the Venerable Tshenolo, before preparing for the hybrid part of the summit, starting from day 2.
