David Bowers, an established mosaic artist recently visited Finmere CE Primary School for 3 days to work with staff, parents and children to create two large-scale mosaics for the school site. Pupils worked with Mr Bowers to create designs that represented Finmere village, the school and the Church.
One large-scale rectangular mosaic is placed on the front of the school and one circular mosaic is placed in the entrance hall. The school had an Art focus across the spring terms, which culminated in an Art Exhibition Open Day.
The exhibition was supported by well-known local mouth artist Keith Jansz and pupils proudly exhibited their work in a range of mediums inspired by a range of artists including David Hockney, Rothko and Philippe Parreno. Parents and the wider community were delighted by the installation of the two mosaics.
