Nature at the heart of making and praising church group

A lesson on the birds and the bees helped support environmental charity A Rocha UK, at a children’s church group in Great Missenden.

Youngsters met for their regular MAP (Making and Praising) group and made bird boxes and decorated plant pots to be planted with bee-friendly flowers. The terracotta pots were sold to an appreciative congregation, while the bird boxes were out up around the churchyard of St Peter and St Paul’s and beyond.

Chloe Lewis, volunteer children’s leader, said: “Older members of the congregation worked with the kids to make these bird boxes for robins and bluetits. They had great fun decorating the pots and it was great to give back to A Rocha UK who have supported our Eco Church work with access to resources.”

Children were also treated to a closer look at a beehive, thanks to Keith Ray who brought an empty one into church. They are looking forward to a farm visit next month where they hope to meet some spring lambs.
